Dear Parents / Guardians

As you will know the school was recently inspected by Ofsted. I enclose a copy of their full report.

The framework for inspection of schools has changed since the last time the school was inspected and schools are now compared with similar schools. The Inspectors identified some areas where the school is better than similar institutions and others where the school was judged to be performing in line with similar schools.

Judgements on achievement are based on the level of SATs scores students gain in the primary schools, which in this area are very high indeed. This provides our school with significant challenges in terms of the targets we are set. The Inspectors recognised that there has been progress towards meeting those targets and anticipate that this year will show further improvements.

The Inspectors acknowledged that the school has made changes to improve standards and that those changes are still working their way through. These changes involve both the way lessons are taught and a restructuring of the school’s management system.

The Inspectors made three recommendations for the school to improve further. They were to continue to raise our performance in exams, to check on the quality of teaching more often mainly by increasing the number of lessons that are observed and to finish the re-structuring of the management system.

The Inspectors recognised the support of the parents and the response that they had from students which was very positive. I have attached a copy of the letter they have sent to all students in the school.

Our next steps will be to work hard to implement the recommendations in order to ensure we are able to improve on our recent success and provide the best for your children.

Yours faithfully

PN Harrison
